Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the accounting department and monthly financial statement preparation and reporting. This role is responsible for ensuring a strong internal control environment with well documented processes and procedures.
Key Objectives:
- Monthly financial statement reporting including reporting package preparation.
- Financial statement and other ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
- Work with key functional managers to develop meaningful reporting and analysis on customer profitability, sourcing cost savings opportunities and inventory improvements opportunities.
- Make recommendations for process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
- Responsible for timely month-end close process including review of all journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Heavy financial analysis and reporting including bridge schedule preparation with root cause variance explanations.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested to support business.
- Participate in monthly departmental meetings to review financial statement results.
- Assess current processes and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements while ensuring adequate documentation of those procedures.
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
- Help with annual financial audit activities and workpaper deliverables
- Participate in annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
- Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
- Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems, Power BI
