About Our Client:
Our client is an established asset-based regional cargo transport company specializing in the safe and efficient movement of liquid asphalt, petroleum crude oil, anhydrous ammonia, and other liquid petrochemicals. As they expand their services, they are excited to open a new brokerage branch and are seeking an experienced and driven Carrier Sales Representative to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of their growth, playing a critical role in building their brokerage capabilities from the ground up.
Position Overview:
The Carrier Sales Representative will be responsible for building and managing relationships with carriers to ensure efficient and cost-effective freight solutions. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a proven track record of securing carrier capacity and managing carrier relationships. Given the newness of our client’s brokerage division, the ideal candidate will possess both the expertise and initiative to help guide the team through the process of setting up and scaling a successful brokerage operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrier Sourcing & Management: Leverage your established network to secure reliable and cost-effective capacity for customer loads.
- Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with carriers to ensure high-quality service and compliance.
- Negotiation: Secure competitive rates and contracts to optimize profitability while maintaining exceptional service levels.
- Operational Coordination: Work closely with dispatch and customer service teams to guarantee timely freight pickup and delivery.
- Market Analysis: Track industry trends and carrier rates to make data-driven pricing and capacity decisions.
- Brokerage Setup Support: Advise on best practices for brokerage operations, including compliance, carrier vetting, and load management systems.
- Collaboration: Partner with the Brokerage Sales Representative to align carrier capacity with customer demand for seamless execution.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years in carrier sales within a freight brokerage or 3PL environment.
- Industry Network: A well-established carrier network with the ability to bring immediate capacity from day one.
- Specialized Knowledge: Strong understanding of liquid transport logistics, carrier market rates, and regulatory compliance.
- Skills: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Independence: Ability to thrive in a start-up-like environment within an established company.
- Technology Proficiency: Experience using TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and CRM platforms.
