Chief Financial Officer
We are partnering with a mid-market private equity backed commercial service and rental organization seeking a Chief Financial Officer.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for leading and managing the finance and accounting department. The CFO will oversee acquisition deal analysis and integration, drive growth and financial performance through KPI management, and support strategic development and operational planning/budgeting. This role will also ensure the effective implementation of financial standard operating procedures (SOPs) and systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Manage the central finance team, including overseeing systems and controls in key areas such as financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting, and treasury.
• Supervise the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely delivery of financial reports and providing final oversight on the monthly financial package reviews.
• Oversee quarterly and year-end financial reviews, including preparing board packages, financial statements, and reporting packages for lenders.
• Lead liquidity management efforts with support from the FP&A and accounting teams, reviewing liquidity reports and strategizing on liquidity forecasting to support major capital expenditure decisions and strategic business decisions.
• Oversee the budgeting process, ensuring the integration of actual results with forecasted data, for review and approval by the board and subsequent delivery to lenders.
• Communicate regularly with the board and ownership regarding the financial and accounting functions of the business.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for managing relationships with corporate and equipment lenders, leading presentations and addressing inquiries as needed.
• Approve check signing and ACH transactions, ensuring compliance with formal processes, documentation standards, and delegation of authority.
• Manage major vendor relationships, optimizing days payable outstanding (DPO) in the best interest of the business.
• Lead collections efforts, working closely with the finance and accounting team to track accounts receivable (A/R) milestones and minimize days sales outstanding (DSO).
• Oversee the tracking and reporting of company KPIs, working closely with FP&A personnel to provide reports to executives and investors.
• Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, including pre-transaction analysis and leading post-transaction financial integration for newly acquired businesses or expansions.
• Advise the CEO on financial strategy and business initiatives, with an emphasis on liquidity management and financial forecasting.
• Lead the implementation of financial systems (e.g., NetSuite), collaborating with both internal and external project management teams.
• Manage margin control initiatives, including the development of data tools and integration with ERP systems to support the sales team.

EDUCATIONAL AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance is required; an MBA and/or CPA is preferred.
• 15+ years of professional experience, with 5+ years in senior finance leadership roles in relevant or transferable industries
• Experience in private equity and exposure to working with boards and investors is highly valued but not required.
• Strong expertise in financial analysis, accounting, and quantitative skills, with formal training in accounting and finance
• Familiarity with FP&A, accounting (GAAP), treasury processes, and managing external vendors and banking relationships is essential
• Proven experience leading enterprise-wide budgeting and forecasting processes across both functional and business entities.
• Experience leading multi-site, multi-geography teams (directly or indirectly), including recruiting, retaining, and developing talent at both the site and corporate levels, fostering a positive working culture and driving business success.
• Knowledge of construction or rental contracts, billing processes, and familiarity with union environments is a plus.
• An understanding of private equity transaction structures, integration requirements, M&A analysis, and transaction process modeling is highly valued.
