Location: Remote (Eastern/Central time zone preferred)
A rapidly growing, private equity-backed leader in the commercial services industry is seeking a highly motivated Director of Corporate Development to drive its aggressive acquisition strategy. This newly created position plays a central role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing M&A transactions, as well as supporting strategic growth initiatives that fuel the company’s national expansion.
As part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, the Director of Corporate Development will lead deals from origination through integration, working closely with senior leadership, private equity sponsors, and external advisors. This is a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on a high-growth platform that has recently partnered with a top-tier private equity firm to accelerate its strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities
M&A Strategy & Deal Execution
- Identify, assess, and execute acquisition opportunities that align with the company’s strategic objectives and growth roadmap
- Own or support the full deal lifecycle: sourcing, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, closing, and integration
- Maintain a robust deal pipeline, evaluating opportunities for strategic fit, ROI, and alignment with corporate priorities
- Conduct market and competitive research to inform target identification and strategic positioning
Financial Modeling & Analysis
- Develop and manage detailed financial models, including DCF, LBO, and accretion/dilution analyses
- Evaluate target company performance, forecast future outlooks, and assess risks, synergies, and value creation opportunities
- Translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations for internal stakeholders
Due Diligence & Transaction Management
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional due diligence efforts, engaging internal stakeholders and third-party experts (e.g., QoE, legal, tax, environmental)
- Identify and assess risks throughout the diligence process to ensure informed decision-making
- Partner with legal, tax, and finance teams to structure deals and finalize transaction documentation
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Develop and present clear, concise investment memos and board-level presentations
- Act as a key liaison for private equity sponsors, advisors, and internal functional leaders
- Communicate risks, findings, and recommendations with credibility across all levels of the organization
Post-Close Integration & Value Creation
- Collaborate with functional teams to support post-acquisition integration planning and execution
- Monitor acquired businesses, track performance metrics, and help drive value realization initiatives
- Report on deal KPIs and track progress against acquisition goals
Qualifications
Experience & Background
- 5–8 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or transaction advisory
- Strong deal experience with a proven ability to drive or support end-to-end M&A processes
- Prior exposure to multi-site services, industrials, or transportation sectors is a plus
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments, especially private equity-backed organizations
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Advanced financial modeling expertise, including DCF, LBO, and three-statement models
- Solid understanding of corporate finance, valuation, accounting, and deal structuring
- Familiarity with tax and legal considerations in M&A transactions
Execution & Leadership
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deals simultaneously
- Strong communicator, capable of presenting to C-suite executives and investment partners
- High level of initiative, with a process-driven, self-starter mindset
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build credibility across functional teams
