Plant Manager

Position Overview:
The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of order fulfillment and facility operations. This includes overseeing production, shipping and receiving, warehouse functions, and product quality, as well as ensuring effective building maintenance. The role emphasizes safety, cost control, on-time delivery, product quality, and operational excellence. The Plant Manager will lead a team from order intake through to timely, accurate shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership

Supervise all plant personnel and day-to-day operations.

Ensure consistent product output through documented processes and conditions.

Train team members on proper equipment operation, safety standards, and housekeeping protocols.

Maximize workforce and equipment efficiency.
-
Align production with forecasts and customer demand.

Partner with HR to maintain appropriate staffing levels; serve as the main contact for temporary staffing agencies.

Manage performance appraisals, recognition, conflict resolution, and employee development.

Ensure plant operations comply with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (scheduling, supply chain, customer service, finance).

Maintain inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.

Enter and manage production activity in the ERP system.
Order Fulfillment Excellence

Drive accuracy and timeliness in order processing and fulfillment.

Monitor and improve key metrics:

Master schedule adherence
-
First-pass quality and product specs
-
Quality complaint resolution
-
Production and conversion cost metrics
-
Pounds/hour, yield, and budget performance
-
Safety metrics including incident rates
-
Continuous Improvement and Compliance

Support and uphold company vision, values, and standards.

Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.

Participate in training and development relevant to plant operations.

Lead and support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Science, Business, or related field preferred.

5+ years of experience in manufacturing plant operations.

Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., ABAS, MRP, MRPII).

Skilled in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.

Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing plant-level operations.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Ability to manage projects and influence cross-functional teams.
