Job Description

Director of Human Resources

Multi-Site Healthcare Services

Location: West Coast (California preferred; hybrid/remote considered)

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Industry: Specialty Healthcare

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a growing, multi-site healthcare services organization backed by private equity to identify a Director of Human Resources. The organization operates roughly 400 employees across 40+ locations concentrated in the Northwestern area of the US, and is scaling through both organic growth and acquisition.

This is a newly defined, hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. The organization is looking for someone who can build and can be trusted to run HR day-to-day while also shaping a longer-term roadmap. This role carries a clear growth path toward a VP-level position as the company continues to expand, including through future M&A activity.

Why This Role

•       Direct line to the CEO and a genuine seat in shaping how HR scales across a fast-growing, multi-site organization.

•       Clear runway to grow into a VP-level role as the company continues to expand through acquisition.

•       An organization that is intentionally investing in building out real HR infrastructure, not just maintaining the status quo.

•       Manageable travel (roughly once a month) rather than a heavy field-based schedule.

What You'll Own

California & Multi-State Compliance

•       Serve as the organization's go-to expert on California employment law, with working knowledge of Washington requirements as well.

•       Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risk across a multi-site, multi-state footprint.

•       Lead workplace investigations and employee relations matters with sound judgment and thorough documentation.

HR Operations & Team Leadership

•       Directly manage and develop an HR Business Partner and a Benefits professional, with an additional HR hire planned.

•       Own policy development, employee handbook maintenance, onboarding, and training programs.

•       Lead the upcoming open enrollment process end-to-end, including selecting and managing the benefits broker relationship and bringing in stakeholders for major decisions.

•       Build out scalable HR processes and documentation that hold up over time, regardless of who is in the seat.

Retention & Culture

•       Develop and drive initiatives that improve employee retention across a dispersed, multi-site workforce.

•       Act as a trusted advisor and resource to location and office managers across the footprint.

Strategic Contribution

•       Partner with the CEO to build a practical HR roadmap that matches the pace of the business.

•       Contribute HR perspective to future acquisition integration, including policy harmonization and onboarding of newly acquired locations.

What We're Looking For

•       7+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience operating across multiple sites or locations.

•       Deep, current knowledge of California employment law is required; familiarity with Washington law is a strong plus.

•       A demonstrated hands-on, execution-first style, someone who does the work and documents it, not just someone who advises from a distance.

•       Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment is a plus.

•       A true self-starter who is comfortable owning ambiguity and building process where none exists.

•       Willingness to travel to locations approximately once per month; candidates based in California, the Pacific Northwest, or with easy access to a direct flight are strongly preferred.

•       Prior healthcare industry experience is not required.

•       Bachelor's degree required; HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) preferred.

Additional Details

•       This is a confidential search. Candidate identities and applications will be handled discreetly throughout the process.

•       The interview process includes participation from external HR consultants at both a senior executive advisory level and an operational level. Ideally someone with experience in a specialty multi-site healthcare practice vs. a hospital-type setting

Job Responsibilities

Human Resources Director

Mosaic Dental Collective exists so dentists can focus on patients, not paperwork. We provide the operational backbone for growing practices across oral surgery, orthodontics, periodontics and general dentistry. As HR Director you will design the people systems that let our 500–1,000-person organization scale without losing the clinician-first culture that defines us.

Performance Objectives

  • Build and launch a scalable talent-acquisition engine that fills 80% of clinical and operational roles within 45 days while supporting 20% annual headcount growth.
  • Design compensation, benefits and total-rewards programs that keep our practices competitive in every specialty market we serve and reduce regrettable turnover below 12%.
  • Implement an HRIS and people-analytics dashboard that gives practice leaders real-time visibility into staffing, engagement and compliance within six months.
  • Create and deliver leadership-development pathways so 90% of new practice managers and regional directors are promoted from within within 18 months.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with healthcare employment regulations (HIPAA, wage-and-hour, multi-state) across all supported practices with zero material findings.
  • Partner with operations to embed a wellness and retention culture that drives employee NPS above 50 and patient-satisfaction scores that remain industry-leading.

Environment & Resources

You report to the Chief Operating Officer and lead a lean HR team of generalists and specialists. You will have budget authority for talent programs, an existing HRIS platform ready for optimization, and direct access to practice owners and clinical leaders. Hybrid work from our Vancouver, WA headquarters with travel to practices as needed.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven track record building HR infrastructure that scaled a multi-site healthcare or professional-services organization through 20%+ annual growth.
  • Hands-on experience designing compensation and benefits for both clinical and administrative talent in dental or medical practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement HR technology and analytics that practice-level leaders actually use.
  • Deep knowledge of multi-state employment law in healthcare settings and a history of zero-material-audit results.
  • SHRM-SCP or equivalent plus 10+ years progressive HR leadership, at least five of those in a DSO or similar support-organization model.

Role Selling Points

  • Direct impact: every hire and every policy you create lets dentists spend more time with patients.
  • Growth runway: we are in expansion mode with a single funding round already closed and more practices joining the mosaic.
  • Specialty diversity: one HR team supporting oral surgery, ortho, perio, endo and general dentistry—rare breadth in dental support.
  • Seat at the table: you will shape people strategy alongside operations, not after the fact.

If you are ready to build the people foundation that lets dentists practice at their best, apply today. We move quickly for the right leader.
