Job Description

Communications Director

Private Equity–Backed Field Services Company

We're partnering with a growing, private equity–backed field services organization to find their next Communications Director. This is a newly elevated, senior-level role for someone who wants to build an enterprise internal communications function from the ground up — not just execute someone else's playbook.

About the Role

This company operates at scale across the country, with a large, distributed workforce spanning multiple functions, geographies, and levels. As Communications Director, you'll set the vision, governance, and enterprise approach for internal communications and employee engagement — translating company strategy and business priorities into clear, compelling messaging that reaches every corner of the organization.

You'll serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, guiding senior stakeholders through sensitive and highly visible initiatives, and ensuring communication that informs, inspires, and unites employees around shared goals.

What You'll Do

•     Own the enterprise internal communications strategy, operating model, and annual communications priorities in alignment with business objectives

•     Direct the internal editorial calendar to ensure timely, consistent communication across audiences and platforms

•     Lead the development of executive messaging platforms and provide strategic counsel to senior leaders for company-wide announcements, town halls, and change initiatives

•     Oversee enterprise change communications plans — stakeholder alignment, message architecture, leader toolkits, and adoption support

•     Partner with HR to drive initiatives that celebrate employee contributions and foster a culture of inclusion and recognition

•     Sponsor programs that bring company values to life through storytelling, events, employee spotlights, and advocacy campaigns

•     Establish and evolve two-way communication practices — town halls, AMAs, pulse surveys, and listening channels that inform leadership decisions

•     Launch and manage multimedia channels, including internal podcasts, video, and newsletters

•     Direct communication platforms (intranet, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) and drive innovation in content delivery and engagement tracking

•     Lead and develop a communications team, and manage external partners, agencies, and vendors as needed

•     Define and monitor engagement metrics and reporting to measure reach, sentiment, and effectiveness

•     Build an internal influencer program that empowers employees as storytellers and cultural champions

•     Serve as a brand and messaging steward, ensuring consistency and clarity across all internal channels

What You Bring

•     10+ years of progressive experience in corporate, internal, employee, executive, or change communications — preferably in a B2B or enterprise setting

•     Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field; Master's degree a plus

•     Proven experience advising executives and influencing senior stakeholders on high-impact internal communications programs

•     Track record leading enterprise communications programs and establishing governance across a large organization

•     Experience managing digital content platforms and internal media (podcasting, video series)

•     Strong understanding of employee engagement, organizational culture, and change management principles

•     Experience leading or managing communications professionals, agencies, vendors, and budgets

•     Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and tones

•     Comfort managing complex, high-visibility projects in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

•     Experience in field services, or a related service industry is a plus
