Finance Manager, Portfolio Operations Group

This position sits at a middle market private equity firm part of their Portfolio Operations Group. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the financial operations of portfolio companies are robust, transparent, and aligned with the firm’s value creation goals. Their responsibilities span from supporting the financial needs of portfolio companies to optimizing internal processes. The Finance Senior Associate will be exposed to many different value-creating initiatives across many diverse industries. This requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, project management skills, and general business knowledge including analyzing financial data and operating metrics. Travel will be required on an as-needed basis and could be extensive as warranted to be onsite at the portfolio companies.


Geography: Remote but candidates must be willing to travel up to 50%


Responsibilities:


  • Leadership: Proven ability to guide a team during project based goals such as ERP implementation, month end close optimization and audit preparation.
  • Project Management: Experience with managing multiple projects, prioritizing highest and best use of time and communicating with key stakeholders progress.
  • Financial Reporting Preparation and Support: Prepare and assist financial reports for portfolio companies, including monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and organize financial data from portfolio companies to assist in performance tracking and reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting Support: Help in the creation and maintenance of budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Process Improvement Assistance: Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and support the implementation of process improvements. This includes maintaining and developing standard operating procedures, playbooks, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Ad-hoc Financial Analysis: Provide support for various financial analyses as needed by senior team members (e.g. cost savings opportunities, profitability analysis, etc.)
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that portfolio companies adhere to financial regulations, accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and internal controls.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience
  • Prior experience in consulting company or an accounting firm, preferably in an operating environment, ideally supporting operational improvement initiatives and working with clients.
  • The ability and interest in being “hands on” to support the team
  • Superb interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication on strategic, financial, and operational areas
  • Strong analytical skills and tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other data management and BI applications
  • POC (percentage of completion) experience is required
  • Well organized and disciplined approach to work effort
  • Active listening skills with the intellectual agility to integrate new information and develop recommendations
  • Establish fact-based recommendations and decision making
  • Ability to work independently if needed and navigate a dynamic environment including partnership with various people to accomplish key initiatives.
