Job Description

Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions

Location: Remote (Eastern U.S. preferred) with travel

About the Company

Our client is a leading national provider of home-based healthcare services backed by one of the top middle-market private equity firms in the country. The organization delivers a broad range of in-home care services, including skilled home health, hospice, behavioral health, and personal care, serving tens of thousands of patients across multiple states.

With a mission centered on delivering high-quality, compassionate care in the home, the company partners closely with physicians, health systems, and payors to improve outcomes and reduce the total cost of care. The organization has experienced significant growth through a combination of organic expansion and strategic acquisitions and continues to invest in initiatives that strengthen its national footprint and leadership in home-based care.

Position Overview

The Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions will play a critical leadership role in building and scaling the company’s corporate development function during a transformative period of growth. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this individual will lead the execution and evolution of the organization’s M&A strategy, helping drive expansion across existing and new markets.

This is a unique opportunity to join an organization at an inflection point and help build the infrastructure, processes, and strategic roadmap for a more scaled and sophisticated acquisition platform. The Vice President will work closely with senior leadership, private equity sponsors, and cross-functional teams to source, evaluate, execute, and integrate acquisitions that support the company’s long-term growth strategy.

The role requires a highly strategic and execution-oriented leader with deep healthcare M&A experience, strong financial and operational acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment.

Key Responsibilities

M&A Strategy & Corporate Development

  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute the company’s M&A and market expansion strategy across targeted geographies and service lines
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize acquisition opportunities aligned with the organization’s strategic growth objectives
  • Help build and scale the company’s corporate development infrastructure, processes, and playbook to support increased acquisition activity
  • Develop market intelligence, competitive analysis, and strategic insights to inform investment priorities and expansion planning
  • Support evaluation of de novo expansion opportunities in partnership with operational leadership

Deal Execution & Transaction Leadership

  • Lead all phases of the acquisition lifecycle, including sourcing, valuation, financial analysis, due diligence, negotiation support, and transaction execution
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders throughout the deal process, including legal, finance, operations, clinical leadership, and third-party diligence providers
  • Partner closely with the company’s private equity sponsors on transaction evaluation, investment theses, and strategic analyses
  • Develop investment materials, business cases, and executive-level presentations to support acquisition decisions
  • Manage multiple concurrent transactions while ensuring disciplined execution and alignment with strategic objectives

Integration & Value Creation Support

  • Partner with operational leadership to support integration planning and execution for newly acquired businesses
  • Help establish scalable integration processes and best practices that support long-term growth and operational alignment
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to monitor acquisition performance and track value creation initiatives
  • Support continuous improvement of the organization’s M&A capabilities, tools, and reporting infrastructure

Core Competencies & Attributes

  • Strategic, analytical, and highly execution-oriented
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to assess strategic and operational implications of transactions
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort building processes and infrastructure in a growing organization
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across executive leadership, investors, and external partners
  • Ability to navigate complex, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
  • Collaborative, low-ego leadership style with a strong team-first mentality
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deals and strategic initiatives simultaneously

Qualifications

  • 7–15 years of experience in healthcare M&A, investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or a related field
  • Significant transaction experience within healthcare services required; home health, hospice, behavioral health, or post-acute care experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading transactions through the full M&A lifecycle, including diligence, execution, and integration support
  • Strong analytical, valuation, and financial modeling capabilities
  • Experience working within or alongside private equity-backed organizations preferred
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across executive leadership and cross-functional teams
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to build and scale the M&A function within a rapidly growing, PE-backed healthcare organization
  • Direct exposure to executive leadership and private equity sponsors
