POSITION OVERVIEW
A well-established precision metals manufacturer outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin is seeking a Quality/Compliance Manager to own the quality management system and lead the quality and inspection team. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who can operate at the systems level while still rolling up their sleeves alongside the team when needed. The company serves customers across aerospace, defense, medical, agriculture, and other industries, and operates under ISO 9001:2015 certification with an active defense customer base requiring ITAR and DFARS compliance.
With a mature QMS already in place and a facility expansion currently underway, the person stepping into this role will have real infrastructure to build on and a genuine mandate to grow with the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Management System
• Own, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System, including customer and vendor compliance management
• Develop and apply APQP, PPAP, and ISO standards and compliance requirements across the organization
• Manage QOPs and DWIs; ensure documentation is current, accurate, and being followed
• Lead and maintain the calibration system; ensure all measurement equipment is calibrated per ISO standards
• Monitor and assess incoming, in-process, and post-production quality processes; install improvements as needed
• Proactively communicate quality and process information across manufacturing, operations, sales, and leadership
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, develop, and set daily priorities for the quality and inspection team
• Identify areas of team development, training needs, and performance improvement
• Ensure quality and safety training is developed, available, and delivered across the organization
• Assist hands-on alongside the team in preparing and completing inspection documentation as needed
Non-Conformance & Corrective Action
• Ensure non-conformances and quality concerns are identified and processed in a timely manner
• Lead or assist in Corrective Action, ECN, RMA, and PPAP processes
• Drive root cause resolution and implement steps to prevent recurrence
Safety Program
• Lead the active development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of the company safety program
• Identify safety training needs across the organization and ensure appropriate training is in place
Federal Contracting & Compliance
• Assist in Federal Contracting Review and DFARS compliance management
• Support CMMC project and program oversight
• Manage customer vendor and compliance requirements
Continuous Improvement
• Administer the company Continuous Improvement program and assist in completing CI initiatives
• Assist hands-on as needed to support the team in dimensional inspection and inspection documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
• 3+ years of experience in a Quality Management role; precision metals or contract manufacturing environment strongly preferred
• Strong blueprint reading skills with solid working knowledge of GD&T principles
• Independent and detail-oriented with strong follow-through on projects and commitments
• Comfortable communicating proactively and clearly across all levels of the organization
• Willing to be present on the floor and work alongside the team day to day
• Engineering degree preferred but not required — relevant experience and demonstrated competence carry significant weight
• Able to work full-time onsite; some remote flexibility available as needed
