Location: Hawley, Minnesota - 30 minutes East of Fargo (Onsite)


Our client, a well-established industrial equipment manufacturer, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking projects from concept through fabrication and installation while working closely with manufacturing and customers.


Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing custom mechanical equipment and systems for industrial applications. This role requires strong 3D CAD skills, practical engineering knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with manufacturing, production, and field personnel to deliver high-quality solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems, assemblies, and components using 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), material lists, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Review and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and support continuous product improvements.
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate equipment performance, strength, and structural integrity.
  • Create site layouts and support technical proposals and quotations.
  • Investigate field issues and recommend design improvements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and installation teams throughout the fabrication and commissioning process.
  • Provide engineering support for custom equipment fabrication, installation, and repair.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel design, fabrication processes, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing industrial machinery, conveyors, or material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of industrial construction or equipment installation.
  • Experience supporting fabrication or manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with electric motors and low-to-medium voltage control systems.
  • Technical writing experience for reports, manuals, or customer documentation.
