Job Description

Director of Marketing & Neutral Success

Location: Remote; preference for Southern California Reports To: Chief Growth Officer

About Our Client

Our client is one of the nation's leading alternative dispute resolution (ADR) providers, delivering mediation, arbitration, and related services to law firms, businesses, and individuals. Having built one of the leading ADR platforms on the West Coast, the company is now expanding into major markets across the United States.

At this organization, recruiting exceptional neutrals is only the beginning. Every neutral operates as an entrepreneurial professional practice supported by the company's platform. The organization's role is to provide the brand, infrastructure, technology, marketing, business development, and operational support that enable each neutral to achieve their full potential.

The Marketing & Neutral Success function sits at the center of this model. It connects recruiting, onboarding, launch, marketing, and business development, ensuring that every new neutral has a coordinated, high-quality experience from the time they join through the establishment and growth of his/her practice.

Position Summary

The Director of Marketing & Neutral Success will lead and oversee the organization's marketing and neutral onboarding/launch functions. This leader will ensure the company presents a consistent, premium brand to the market while delivering an exceptional experience to neutrals as they join and establish their practices.

The role combines marketing leadership, neutral relationship management, program management, and cross-functional execution. The Director will oversee Creative, Events, Marketing, and Onboarding & Launch coordination, ensuring these capabilities operate as an integrated platform in support of the organization's neutrals and growth objectives.

This person will serve as the connective tissue between Recruiting and Business Development. Working closely with Recruiting, the Director will translate recruiting strategy and individual neutral profiles into effective launch plans. Working closely with Business Development, the Director will ensure that each neutral transitions from launch into sustained practice development with the right positioning, materials, relationships, events, and other resources in place.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on operator — someone who can manage multiple complex workstreams, establish structure and accountability, solve problems quickly, and build trusted relationships directly with accomplished professionals, including retired judges and senior trial attorneys.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Leadership

  • Lead the organization's overall marketing function in partnership with the Chief Growth Officer.
  • Oversee Creative, Events, and other marketing resources and workstreams.
  • Establish priorities, processes, calendars, and accountability across the marketing function.
  • Ensure marketing initiatives are closely aligned with growth strategy, brand positioning, recruiting priorities, and neutral business development needs.
  • Oversee development of marketing materials and resources that support the organization and individual neutral practices, including biographies, profiles, presentations, thought leadership, digital content, campaigns, and other collateral.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen the organization's premium brand and differentiated market positioning.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all external-facing marketing and communications.
  • Evaluate marketing initiatives based on effectiveness, impact, and ROI.

Neutral Onboarding & Launch

  • Own the overall onboarding and launch process for new neutrals from signed agreement through successful market launch.
  • Develop and maintain a structured, repeatable onboarding and launch process with clear milestones, owners, deliverables, and KPIs.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator across Recruiting, Operations, Marketing, Business Development, Technology, Finance, and the neutral.
  • Develop customized launch plans based on each neutral's practice, market, relationships, and strategic priorities.
  • Ensure all aspects of a neutral's launch — including profile development, marketing materials, technology, office readiness, communications, events, introductions, and BD preparation — are coordinated and executed on schedule.
  • Establish clear launch readiness criteria and ensure new neutrals are fully prepared to begin building their practice.
  • Identify and resolve issues that could delay or compromise a successful launch.
  • Maintain direct relationships with newly recruited neutrals and serve as a trusted point of contact throughout onboarding and launch.

Neutral Success & Experience

  • Serve as an ongoing advocate for the neutral experience, identifying opportunities to improve satisfaction, engagement, productivity, and retention.
  • Gather feedback directly from neutrals and translate it into actionable improvements to programs, processes, technology, marketing resources, and the support model.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the transition from recruiting and onboarding into ongoing business development.
  • Partner with Business Development to ensure each neutral has the appropriate marketing infrastructure and resources to support practice growth.
  • Help establish best practices for neutral engagement and success across markets.
  • Build trusted relationships with neutrals and develop credibility as a responsive, solutions-oriented partner.

Events & Practice Development Support

  • Lead planning and execution of events, including neutral events, client events, educational programs, conferences, sponsorships, roundtables, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure events are strategically aligned with recruiting, marketing, and business development priorities.
  • Coordinate with Business Development to identify opportunities for neutrals to participate in speaking engagements, CLEs, webinars, roundtables, conferences, and other profile-building activities.
  • Develop repeatable processes and playbooks for event planning and execution.
  • Measure event effectiveness and continuously improve the portfolio of events and programs.

Cross-Functional Program Leadership

  • Serve as the central project leader across multiple concurrent marketing, onboarding, launch, and neutral-success workstreams.
  • Establish project plans, timelines, owners, dependencies, and accountability.
  • Coordinate stakeholders across Recruiting, Business Development, Operations, Technology, Finance, and executive leadership.
  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively drive resolution without relying on formal authority.
  • Create scalable processes and operating rhythms as the organization expands into new markets.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting to monitor onboarding, launch, marketing, and neutral-success KPIs.
  • Continuously improve the operating model based on performance data and feedback from neutrals and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, professional services, practice management, customer success, business development, client advisory, consulting, operations, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex workstreams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to create structure, establish accountability, and drive execution.
  • Experience working directly with senior executives, professionals, clients, or other sophisticated stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority across multiple functions.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with accomplished professionals and building trusted relationships.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in legal services, ADR, professional services, or another relationship-driven industry.
  • Experience in marketing within a professional-services environment.
  • Experience supporting individual professionals, partners, advisors, franchisees, or other independent operators.
  • Experience managing onboarding, client success, practice management, or professional development programs.
  • Experience with events, conferences, sponsorships, and educational programming.
  • Experience in a high-growth or private equity-backed services business.
  • Familiarity with CRM, marketing automation, project management, and business intelligence tools.

Leadership Characteristics

The ideal candidate:

  • Is a strong operator. Creates structure, manages details, drives accountability, and gets things done.
  • Builds relationships. Is comfortable and credible interacting directly with senior attorneys, retired judges, and other accomplished professionals.
  • Thinks across the organization. Understands how recruiting, onboarding, marketing, and business development fit together rather than treating them as separate functions.
  • Is highly collaborative. Can coordinate numerous stakeholders and workstreams without formal authority.
  • Has high standards. Cares deeply about quality, responsiveness, consistency, and the experience delivered to neutrals and clients.
  • Is both strategic and hands-on. Can establish the operating model while personally jumping in to solve problems and execute.
  • Is proactive. Anticipates issues, identifies opportunities, and moves work forward without being asked.
  • Is entrepreneurial. Thrives in a growing organization where processes are still being built and improved.
  • Is outcome-oriented. Measures success by whether neutrals successfully launch, engage with the organization, and ultimately build thriving practices.

Travel

Periodic travel to company offices, neutral meetings, conferences, events, and other strategic programs. Travel will vary based on business needs and may include regular presence in key markets.
