Senior Accountant-Patient Revenue
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the month-end close process related to patient revenue and accounts receivable, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis of revenue estimates and trends. This role partners closely with Revenue Cycle Management, Payor Contracting, FP&A, Data Analytics, and other cross-functional teams to enhance revenue recognition methodologies, improve accounting processes, and support automation initiatives. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment focused on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Execute month-end close activities related to patient revenue and accounts receivable, including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Perform subsequent collections and lookback analyses to evaluate the accuracy of patient revenue estimates and identify trends.
- Analyze large volumes of financial and operational data to support revenue recognition, reporting, and business decision-making.
- Partner with Revenue Cycle Management, Payor Contracting, FP&A, Data Analytics, and other stakeholders to refine revenue assumptions and improve reporting accuracy.
- Support and lead process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and automation efforts related to revenue recognition and accounting workflows.
- Design, document, and enhance accounting processes that require cross-functional collaboration, including unapplied cash and patient credit accounting.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures while driving scalable, best-practice solutions.
- Participate in special projects and other initiatives that support the continued evolution of the accounting function.
- Adapt to changing business priorities while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a complex, multi-entity organization.
- Healthcare revenue cycle or patient accounting experience required.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, corporate accounting practices, and internal controls.
- Experience supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting in a high-volume transactional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data sets and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
- Experience designing and improving accounting processes, documentation, and internal workflows with a focus on scalability and automation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency working across multiple financial systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for building efficient, scalable accounting processes.
