  • Establish standardized accounting policies, close procedures, reconciliations, and internal controls across newly acquired businesses.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable government contracting requirements, including appropriate contract and cost accounting practices.
  • Lead the accounting integration of acquisitions, including chart-of-account alignment, opening balance sheets, systems and process conversions, intercompany activity, accounting policies, controls, and reporting.
  • Partner with local Controllers and leadership teams to assess newly acquired accounting functions, identify gaps, and develop integration and improvement plans.
  • Support financial due diligence, Day 1 readiness, and post-close integration activities for future acquisitions.
  • Develop a repeatable accounting integration framework that can be deployed as additional businesses are acquired.
  • Lead external audit activities and establish consistent audit-ready processes and documentation across the organization.
  • Drive ERP, systems, automation, and reporting improvements to create a scalable financial infrastructure across multiple entities.
  • Partner closely with Finance, Operations, and executive leadership to provide visibility into financial performance and support business decision-making.
  • Build and develop the broader accounting organization, including strengthening local finance teams, establishing clear roles and accountability, and developing accounting talent as the company grows.
  • Remain hands-on and willing to work in the details while simultaneously building the accounting infrastructure required to support a rapidly scaling organization.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA required.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or senior accounting leadership experience.
  • Defense, aerospace, government contracting, or closely related industry experience required.

  • Demonstrated experience within an acquisition-driven or roll-up environment, including the accounting integration of acquired businesses.
  • Experience overseeing accounting across multiple entities, business units, or operating locations, ideally through local or Plant Controllers.
  • Experience building or significantly professionalizing an accounting function within a startup, emerging-growth, or rapidly scaling organization.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation with deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and internal controls.
  • Experience integrating acquired businesses with different accounting processes, systems, and levels of financial sophistication.
  • Experience with inventory and cost accounting within a product, manufacturing, or similarly complex environment.
