About the Company
We’re partnered with a private equity–backed distribution platform focused on water infrastructure products and services. The business operates across multiple entities and geographies, serving municipal and contractor customers with a strong reputation in its core markets.
Following a recent investment and subsequent acquisitions, the company has formed a new holding structure to support continued expansion. The platform is entering its next phase of growth—driven by both organic expansion and additional M&A.
The business is well-positioned with strong supplier relationships and increasing demand, but is now investing in internal capabilities to fully capture its growth opportunities.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact role designed for a sharp, early-career operator looking to transition from advisory into true ownership.
As Director of Strategic Initiatives, you will partner closely with senior leadership (including an incoming President) to identify and execute against the platform’s most important value creation opportunities. You’ll work across both operating companies to drive initiatives around pricing, inventory optimization, and geographic expansion.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy and operations and offers a clear path toward broader leadership and P&L responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Commercial & Operational Improvements
- Lead pricing analysis and implementation of pricing strategy to improve margin and discipline
- Evaluate and optimize inventory across multiple warehouse locations, identifying working capital and efficiency opportunities
- Build and implement tools, reporting, and processes to improve visibility and decision-making
Support Growth & Market Expansion
- Assess new geographic markets and define go-to-market strategies for expansion
- Identify required resources across sales, operations, and finance to support new territory growth
- Help execute organic growth initiatives in partnership with leadership and field teams
Diagnose & Improve Performance
- Identify key operational, financial, and organizational gaps across the platform
- Develop structured plans to address inefficiencies and drive measurable improvement
- Translate analytical insights into practical, on-the-ground execution
Build Operating Infrastructure
- Establish reporting, KPIs, and management rhythms to improve accountability
- Support development of scalable processes across both operating entities
- Partner with leadership to professionalize the organization as it scales
Bridge Strategy & Execution
- Work closely with leadership, sales teams, and operations to ensure initiatives are implemented effectively
- Serve as a connective layer across functions to drive alignment and execution
What We’re Looking For
- 2–5 years of experience in management consulting, operations, strategy, or a similarly analytical environment
- Strong problem-solving ability with a bias toward action and ownership
- Experience with pricing, supply chain, procurement, or operational improvement is a plus
- Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and bring structure to complexity
- Comfort working in hands-on, operational environments and influencing a range of stakeholders
- Interest in operational leadership and a long-term path toward P&L ownership
- MBA preferred, but not required
Why This Role
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and private equity ownership
- Opportunity to shape and scale a growing platform across multiple operating companies
- High-visibility role focused on core value creation levers (pricing, inventory, growth)
- Fast-paced, acquisition-driven environment with significant runway for growth
- Clear path to broader operational leadership
