Vice President – Practice Operations (Texas)

A leading, physician-centric specialty medical group is seeking a Vice President of Practice Operations to lead a large, established, and growing Texas market. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this executive will oversee all clinical and administrative operations while playing a key role in driving continued expansion through both organic growth and acquisitions.

This is a high-impact leadership role for an operator who thrives in fast-paced, multi-site healthcare environments and enjoys partnering closely with physicians to scale performance and infrastructure.

The Opportunity

This leader will oversee a significant and mature regional footprint, including:

  • ~70 providers (50 physicians, 20 APPs)
  • 24 locations across Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio
  • $100M in annual revenue
  • 4 Regional Directors and broader operational teams

The Texas market remains a major strategic priority, with continued investment in practice acquisitions and market expansion, making this role central to the organization’s next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Market Leadership

  • Provide full oversight of clinical and administrative operations across the region
  • Establish and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals and market needs
  • Drive performance across key metrics including growth, efficiency, patient experience, and cost management
  • Evaluate operational performance and implement improvements across people, processes, and systems

Growth & Acquisition Execution

  • Partner closely with the development team to support evaluation, acquisition, and integration of new practices
  • Play a leadership role in onboarding and integrating acquisitions into the broader platform
  • Identify opportunities for continued geographic and service line expansion

Physician Partnership

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with physician leaders and providers
  • Partner with clinical leadership to ensure efficient, high-quality care delivery
  • Ensure alignment between operational execution and physician priorities

Team Leadership & Infrastructure

  • Lead, develop, and mentor Regional Directors and operational teams
  • Establish performance goals, monitor progress, and drive accountability across the organization
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, training, and development to support current operations and future growth
  • Create a high-performing, collaborative culture focused on execution and results

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Standardize workflows and operational best practices across locations
  • Ensure effective use of resources and continuous operational improvement

Financial & Performance Management

  • Maintain strong operational discipline around budgeting, cost management, and resource allocation
  • Monitor performance metrics and present regular updates to executive leadership
  • Drive initiatives that improve profitability while maintaining high-quality care

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all operations meet regulatory requirements and internal standards
  • Oversee audits, training, and ongoing compliance across the region

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of healthcare operations experience, including senior leadership responsibility
  • Proven success leading multi-site physician practice or MSO environments
  • Strong experience partnering with physicians and driving alignment across clinical and operational teams
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and/or integrations is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, implement systems, and scale operations
  • Data-driven, strategic thinker with strong execution skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred

Additional Details

  • Location: Texas (Houston, Dallas, Austin/San Antonio preferred; flexibility within region)
  • Travel: ~50% across the state

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to step into a well-established, high-growth market with engaged physician partners and strong organizational momentum. The platform is continuing to invest heavily in Texas through both acquisitions and organic growth, and this leader will play a pivotal role in shaping the region’s future.

The right candidate will bring a combination of operational rigor, relationship-driven leadership, and a true ownership mindset—with the ability to both set strategy and execute at a high level.
