A leading, physician-centric specialty medical group is seeking a Vice President of Practice Operations to lead a large, established, and growing Texas market. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this executive will oversee all clinical and administrative operations while playing a key role in driving continued expansion through both organic growth and acquisitions.
This is a high-impact leadership role for an operator who thrives in fast-paced, multi-site healthcare environments and enjoys partnering closely with physicians to scale performance and infrastructure.
The Opportunity
This leader will oversee a significant and mature regional footprint, including:
- ~70 providers (50 physicians, 20 APPs)
- 24 locations across Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio
- $100M in annual revenue
- 4 Regional Directors and broader operational teams
The Texas market remains a major strategic priority, with continued investment in practice acquisitions and market expansion, making this role central to the organization’s next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Market Leadership
- Provide full oversight of clinical and administrative operations across the region
- Establish and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals and market needs
- Drive performance across key metrics including growth, efficiency, patient experience, and cost management
- Evaluate operational performance and implement improvements across people, processes, and systems
Growth & Acquisition Execution
- Partner closely with the development team to support evaluation, acquisition, and integration of new practices
- Play a leadership role in onboarding and integrating acquisitions into the broader platform
- Identify opportunities for continued geographic and service line expansion
Physician Partnership
- Build strong, trusted relationships with physician leaders and providers
- Partner with clinical leadership to ensure efficient, high-quality care delivery
- Ensure alignment between operational execution and physician priorities
Team Leadership & Infrastructure
- Lead, develop, and mentor Regional Directors and operational teams
- Establish performance goals, monitor progress, and drive accountability across the organization
- Ensure appropriate staffing, training, and development to support current operations and future growth
- Create a high-performing, collaborative culture focused on execution and results
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve efficiency and scalability
- Standardize workflows and operational best practices across locations
- Ensure effective use of resources and continuous operational improvement
Financial & Performance Management
- Maintain strong operational discipline around budgeting, cost management, and resource allocation
- Monitor performance metrics and present regular updates to executive leadership
- Drive initiatives that improve profitability while maintaining high-quality care
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all operations meet regulatory requirements and internal standards
- Oversee audits, training, and ongoing compliance across the region
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of healthcare operations experience, including senior leadership responsibility
- Proven success leading multi-site physician practice or MSO environments
- Strong experience partnering with physicians and driving alignment across clinical and operational teams
- Experience supporting acquisitions and/or integrations is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build teams, implement systems, and scale operations
- Data-driven, strategic thinker with strong execution skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
Additional Details
- Location: Texas (Houston, Dallas, Austin/San Antonio preferred; flexibility within region)
- Travel: ~50% across the state
