Job Description

AI Transformation Consulting Partner

Overview

We are working with a private equity firm that is looking to build a bench of AI transformation consultants who can be deployed across the various organizations in its portfolio to help those companies think through and apply AI to drive value creation across their core business functions.

This is not a traditional technical hire. We're looking for a strategically minded operator with a background at a major consulting firm (e.g., EY, McKinsey, PwC, Deloitte) who has led transformation work inside businesses and can translate AI capability into business strategy, not just build the underlying technology. The role can flex between full-time and consulting/fractional engagement depending on portfolio company need.

Example areas of focus include:

  • Helping portfolio company leadership teams understand where and how AI should factor into their business strategy
  • Guiding functional teams — finance, human capital, sales, operations — through how they adopt and apply AI in their day-to-day work
  • Shaping AI governance, prioritization, and readiness so companies can make sound decisions as they scale AI adoption
  • Supporting change management as organizations shift how their teams operate with AI in the mix

Scope and Operating Model

This role spans a group of portfolio companies. The consultant will assess, advise, coach, and convene leadership across supported organizations to help them think clearly about AI strategy and put it into practice.

The role operates on two levels:

  • Company level: Help individual portfolio companies assess AI readiness, prioritize where AI can create the most value, and guide governance and adoption across functions.
  • Portfolio level: Identify patterns across companies, turn them into repeatable frameworks and playbooks, and create opportunities for portfolio companies to learn from one another.

Key Responsibilities

  • Embed with portfolio company leadership to understand the business, map where AI can create the most value, and build buy-in with executives and functional leaders
  • Advise on AI strategy across core functions — finance, human capital, sales, operations — translating AI capability into practical business decisions
  • Lead change management efforts to help organizations adopt new ways of working as AI is introduced
  • Develop a repeatable framework for AI strategy and readiness that can scale across the portfolio
  • Coach and upskill company leadership and teams so organizations can sustain progress independently over time
  • Partner closely with internal Portfolio AI leadership to shape the broader AI transformation approach across the firm

Experience and Scope

  • 5–10 years of experience, ideally including time at a major consulting firm (EY, McKinsey, PwC, Deloitte, or similar) doing substantive transformation work
  • Demonstrated experience helping businesses think through and apply AI strategy — not primarily a technical implementer or engineer
  • Strong business acumen paired with genuine familiarity with AI capabilities and how they apply across functions
  • Track record advising and building credibility with senior leadership, including comfort offering constructive pushback and operating as a trusted advisor rather than a vendor
  • Experience guiding organizational change — helping teams adopt new tools, processes, and ways of working
  • Comfortable operating across multiple companies, industries, and organizational contexts
  • A coaching and advisory style — able to guide, teach, and influence without formal authority
  • Private equity or portfolio company experience is a plus, but not required
