Director of Strategic Initiatives - Operations
Location: Flexible within the Company's footprint. Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville, and South Florida are all good fits, along with other markets across GA, FL, AL, the Carolinas, TN, VA, MO, TX, or KY.
About the Company
We're partnered with a leading field services organization serving commercial clients across a growing multi-state footprint spanning the Southeast and South-central US. Backed by top-tier private equity, the company is in a rapid growth phase, driven by an active acquisition strategy and a commitment to building best-in-class operations across its footprint.
The organization is scaling quickly and investing heavily in operational excellence, technology enablement, and strategic growth initiatives across the business.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact role designed for a sharp, early-career operator looking to transition from advisory work into true ownership, with a clear runway toward P&L or general management responsibility over time.
As Director of Strategic Initiatives, you will partner closely with executive leadership to identify, prioritize, and execute critical value creation initiatives across the organization. You'll work directly with senior leaders and field operators to solve complex operational challenges, improve performance, and help scale the business during a period of significant growth. This role is being built as a development path toward future P&L or VP-level leadership over a number of branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead High-Impact Strategic Initiatives: Partner with executive leadership to identify and execute initiatives that drive operational improvement, growth, and enterprise value creation
- Support Post-Acquisition Integration Efforts: Help onboard and integrate newly acquired businesses by assessing operations, identifying gaps, and implementing structured operating plans
- Improve the Management Operating System: Strengthen how data and performance information flow to the field, refine the operating model, and build better mechanisms for capturing and tracking actions
- Develop & Implement AI Strategy: Identify practical AI use cases across corporate and field operations, prioritize opportunities, support implementation, and measure adoption and value creation impact
- Improve Customer Retention: Analyze drivers of customer churn, develop proactive retention strategies, and build tools and reporting to support account management teams
- Streamline Operational Processes: Identify opportunities to automate and simplify field administrative workflows, enabling teams to focus more on service delivery and customer communication
- Drive Revenue Growth Initiatives: Support strategies aimed at increasing enhancement sales and improving commercial execution across the business
- Build Operational Infrastructure: Develop reporting, processes, and management rhythms, including tool reporting and KPI tracking, that improve visibility, accountability, and execution
- Bridge Strategy & Execution: Work closely with field leaders and front-line teams to translate strategy into practical, actionable improvements
- Support Leadership Decision-Making: Provide analytical rigor, financial insight, and structured problem-solving to inform high-impact business decisions
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a top-tier consulting firm (Bain, BCG, McKinsey, etc.), private equity operations group, or similarly rigorous analytical environment, with clear evidence of a fast track toward P&L or general management responsibility
- A genuine aspiration to grow into a P&L leadership role overseeing multiple branches or business units, rather than a long-term interest in staying in a strategy or advisory capacity
- Strong problem-solving ability with a bias toward action, execution, and ownership
- Ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and bring structure to complexity
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Comfort working in field-based, operational environments alongside front-line teams and leadership
- Exposure to operational transformation, technology enablement, AI initiatives, or process improvement work is a plus
- Prior military service is a plus
- MBA preferred
Why This Role
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and private equity ownership
- A defined runway toward P&L or general management leadership over a number of branches
- Opportunity to drive meaningful operational and strategic transformation across a rapidly growing organization
- High-visibility role with broad exposure across multiple functions and business units
- Fast-paced, acquisition-driven environment with significant runway for growth
